Short Luteal Phases with PCOS

A very special lady asked about how to change a short luteal phase defect with PCOS. I am going to share some information here for her and all the other Special ladies who are also needing this information.

What is a Luteal Phase?
- its the time from the day after ovulation to the day you start your next cycle.
- A normal Luteal Phase is between 12-14 days
- You temperature should stay elevated for two weeks after ovulation

Short Luteal Phase
- Lasts up to 10 but no longer then 10 days
- Is considered a failure in the uterine lining to be in the right phase at the right time
- Progesterone is responsible to raise the basal body temperature up to on degree Fahrenheit after ovulation with its hyper-thermal affect, this does not happen in a short luteal phase.

Eastern Medicine and Short Luteal Phase
- Few minor changes in your existing life style and diet may correct this problem
- Adding B6 to your supplements
- Staying away from harmful lifestyles such as:
      - smoking cigarettes
      - consuming alcohol
- Acupuncture before and after ovulation may also help.

When dealing with PCOS the doctors have told many of us that changing the way we eat, getting more exercise and being more active helps with the symptoms that come with PCOS. From what I have read and seen about this information its the same thing with a short luteal phase defect.
