I have been battling with my diet lately. I have decided to go back to the
basics. When you go back to the basics
you first think of what you know 100% sure to be true. I know that I lost 65 pounds last year. How did I lose that 65 pounds? The main thing that comes to mind is my
portions.
I know that I had cut my portions down significantly. A typical meal for my husband and I was two
baked chicken tenders and a half plate of vegetables, whether it be broccoli,
salad or cauliflower, etc and one piece of bread. That had expanded here recently to two burgers or a half to three
fourths a pound of meat.
I know that with my condition of PCOS I need to eat very
little to no carbohydrates and I know I can get to that point, but I need to
start somewhere and I need to start with what I know is true and what worked
for me. I have gone two days now
cutting my portions way down and I am still pretty hungry. I have been trying to eat small, healthy
snacks every couple of hours to keep me from getting extremely hungry. I know that it took me about two weeks last
time to get used to the small portions and to be consistently satisfied with my
portions. I did get used to it and I will
again. I am excited because I know it
is different this time. I will succeed
and I not only will lose another 65 pounds, but I will fly right past that. ~

Hey Tammy! It sounds like you're definitely on the right track to lose another 65 pounds with the idea of portion control--and on a side note, I just want to throw out how awesome baked chicken tenders are if you use some unsweetened coconut and almond flour as breading. ;)
ReplyDeleteHowever, I have to ask: what made you increase your portions to begin with? It's not uncommon for people to use food as a way to deal with other things in their life, whether it's stress (emotional eating), variety (eating out of boredom) or wanting to connect to others (people eat more when they're in a group.) I really want to see you meet your goals, so it may be worth the time to look at weight loss from the other end of the equation. Take a look at the video in my link. It does a great job explaining our different human needs, and how we can replace unhealthy habits with better ones.
Best of luck from a fellow PCOS lady!
Thank you Courtney at RRI for the encouraging words. I know got really board with my diet and Christmas hit at the same time. So it just got way out of control. I know I gave up on it and I really dont know why I did. I have been doing alot of changes within myself and I know I still have more to work on. ~ Tammy
